Driving east , along the north coast and enjoying a lovely view of the dark blue waters until we reach the Bay of Mirabello and the city of Agios Nikolaos. The beautiful bay , the colourful streets and especially the unique fresh water lake in the centre of the town make Agios Nikolaos tone one of the loviest cities on our island. We stay there for a nice coffee-break ,little shopping or a walk around the picturesque lake. At the port of Agios Nikolaos we take a ship and sail to the island of Spinalonga known from the movie “Who Pays The Ferryman” .
The boat trip lasts approximately one hour. On the way to our main destination , in the middle of the bay , the ship will stop for one hour and you will have a very nice opportunity for an enjoyable swim in the crystal clear blue waters. The island of Spinalonga is nowadays worldwide well known as the last European colony. We have enough time to visit the imposing fortress and for a walk between the remains of the old historic buildings . After an interesting journey through the Cretan history we take the ship again and sail back to the port of Agios Nikolaos. On the way back we stop at the village of Fodele , the birthplace of the famous El Greco.
